With this stock removal strategy, the FIFO principle may be dropped so as to help optimize the warehouse situation. The number of broken storage unit types (broken pallets) is kept to a minimum.
If you select the stock removal strategy Partial Pallet Quantity, the Warehouse Management system compares the requested amount from the transfer order with the largest bin amount in the storage type. If the requested quantity of the transfer order is the same as or larger (for example, because a complete storage unit type is requested), the system removes the material from this bin. If the requested quantity is smaller, the system removes the material from a storage unit for partial quantities.
The search sequence for full storage units is carried out using the FIFO principle.
The implementation of this strategy is only practical in the Warehouse Management system if stock placements are executed using
- standard storage unit types (always the same quantity of material per SUT) or
- partial pallet quantities (smaller quantities than a standard SUT)
Activities
- Decide whether or not you want to use this stock removal strategy.
- Activate the stock removal strategy partial pallet quantity in the stock removal control parameters of the relevant storage type.
