In this IMG activity, you assign fields to customer-defined message segments. The system automatically applies the structure of the template message segment when you create a message segment.

Requirements

  1. You have already created your own message segment.
  2. If you want to use your own fields, you have also created these beforehand.

Procedure

  1. Position the cursor so as to highlight your segment and visualize the fields assigned to it.
  2. You can modify the structure of the SAP-HCM formats as follows:
  3. Change the field order (the MSGSEGMENT field must be the first field)

  • Remove (delete) field assignments
  • Specify actual field lengths differing from the standard (ALn field)
  • Insert FILLERxx fields or customer-defined fields (note here that you are responsible for the (correct) processing of these fields!).

You must not change the structure of HL7 segments! Any such changes result in the complete message no longer corresponding to the standard.

Activities

  1. Change the field assignment for your message segment to satisfy your individual requirements.
  2. Generate customer structures. This is the prerequisite to you being able to use the segment with the changed structure.
