Use

In this IMG activity, you assign segments to customer-defined message types. The system automatically applies the structure of the template message type when you create a message type.

Requirements

  1. You have already created your own message type.
  2. If you want to use your own segments, you have also created these beforehand.

Procedure

  1. Position the cursor so as to highlight your message type and visualize the segments assigned to it.
  2. You can modify the structure of SAP-HCM formats as follows:

  • Change the segment order ('HEA' must always be the first segment, 'END' must always be the last segment)
  • Remove (delete) segment assignments
  • Declare (or modify declaration of) optional/mandatory segment (O field, 'indicator for optional segment')
  • Declare (or modify declaration of) primary segment (P field, 'indicator for primary segment')
  • Change the maximum repeat factor (mRf field)
  • Determine fixed number (F field together with specification of mRf)
  • Replace segments by others with same segment number (which also must exist)
  • Insert completely new customer segments (segment number 900 - 999) without reference to an SY segment. This is only useful if this segment is also processed (filled or evaluated) in an associated user exit. This segment always remains empty and unprocessed on the SAP side.

  1. You can only make the following (useful) changes to the structure of HL7 formats:

  • Remove optional segments;
  • Replace segments by others with the same segment number (these also must exist).

Activities

  1. Change the segment assignment for your message type to satisfy your individual requirements.
  2. Generate customer structures. This is the prerequisite to you being able to use the message type with the changed structure.
