To create cases, you need number ranges within which you can assign internal or external numbers. You can also assign alphanumeric keys for your cases.
The numbers of the cases are unique within a client. You can define different number range intervals for different case types (outpatient and inpatient/day patient) at institution level.
Requirements
If you want to assign numerical keys to the cases and use several institutions, you have to decide whether you require number ranges for each institution and, within the institution, for each case type.
Activities
The number range object ISH_NFAL is predefined for cases. Enter ISH_NFAL in the Object Nam. field. You can maintain the number range object by choosing Number Range Objects.
Do not make a specification in the institution field.
Enter the institution (under a four-character key) in the Obj. Key field. Note that you have to enter this key with leading zeros here (institution 1 -> 0001).
From the fifth character of this field, enter either AMB for outpatient case types, or AST for inpatient/day patient case types. Note that this specification is mandatory, even if you do not want to differentiate the intervals for each case type.
Enter N, which stands for normal operation, as the transaction mode (in the M field). If you want to define a separate number range for batch input, enter S here for standalone operation.
You maintain the number range interval by choosing Interval. The system checks whether the intervals overlap. The intervals of internal and external number ranges must not overlap.
You can specify internal and external number ranges for each object. The external number range can be alphanumeric. In such cases, select the A (Alpha) option for the object in question.
If you want to use intervals for outpatient case types that are different to the intervals for inpatient/day patient case types, specify different interval numbers in the NI or NE field for the ....AMB and ....AST object keys.
You can specify both internal and external number ranges for each object. You can also define the external number range alphanumerically. In this case, you are not required to create a separate number range. You need only select the A field (alphanumeric) for the corresponding object.
Example
You want to set up different intervals for outpatient and inpatient/ day patient case types for institution 1:
Object Nam Text Inst M Obj.Key NI NE A
ISH_NFAL Case number N 0001AMB 01 02
ISH_NFAL Case number N 0001AST 03 04
If you do not want to set up different intervals:
Object Nam Text Inst M Obj.Key NI NE A
ISH_NFAL Case number N 0001AMB 01 02
ISH_NFAL Case number N 0001AST 01 02
