Use
Visit appointments are assigned in the Visit Scheduling function of Outpatient Clinic Management in relation to time slots that are available for defined planning objects. Planning objects can be:
- The actual organizational unit (OU)
- The attending physicians
- The treatment rooms of an OU
Time slots are characterized by means of scheduling types. You can define the initial visit or the follow-up visit as generally valid scheduling types, for example. You can, however, also maintain "examinations to be scheduled" as a scheduling type.
Activities
You have to define at least one scheduling type (Sched. Type field) for each treatment organizational unit (Org. Unit field) in which visits are to be scheduled.
Enter the short text (Descript. field) and the duration (in minutes) for each scheduling type, since a time slot is output with the short text specified for the scheduling type here and with the corresponding duration in the daily schedule in Visit Scheduling.
The time scale of the daily schedule in visit scheduling is also calculated for each OU using the minute values defined for the scheduling types. The scaling value is then calculated using the largest common factor of the stored minute values. For example, if you have stored three scheduling types with the minute values 10, 15 and 20, the resulting scaling value for the OU is 5 minutes.
The specification of a visit category (initial visit/follow-up visit) serves as an additional selection criterion for the time slot overview in visit scheduling (all open time slots of the category initial visit, for example).
If you flag the B/> (scheduling block) checkbox, a time slot defined with this scheduling type in a day program is displayed and handled as not available for scheduling in Visit Scheduling.
Scheduling types for which a scheduling block is set can be used in time slot maintenance to specify periods of absence, such as vacations or conference attendance, for a planning object. It is then impossible to assign patient appointments to these times in Visit Scheduling.
Recommendation
It is recommended that you only roughly characterize the time slots of an OU with the scheduling types "initial visit" and "follow-up visit" at the outset.
