In this IMG activity, you declare the computer systems that are to be connected to the IS-H system.

Besides departmental computers (laboratory, for example), you have also to declare other SAP systems (for financial accounting, for example). You have also to enter the current SAP system here.

Requirements

If your IS-H system is connected to other systems, you need to have specified the names and network specifications used to establish the connections in the communication table TXCOM.

For more information about this, refer to the section entitled Partner Systems.

Activities

  1. Specify a name for the IS-H system and names for the partner systems of the IS-H system. These names are displayed as partner system names within IS-H when communication programs are run.
  2. In the System type field, enter
    • for SAP systems:
    • R2 for R/2 system or R3 for R/3 systems
    • 1 for non-SAP systems.
  3. For SAP systems, enter the release in the Rel. field. The IS-H programs take relevant release changes into account.

Example: 3.0 for the SAP Release specification. The release doesn't have to be the current release, but must correspond with the entries in the Event-to-Configuration Assignment table (TN02K). For more information about this, refer to the section entitled Configure Events.

  4. Set the Ext. Sys. (external system) indicator if the system is not the one in which IS-H is running. The system in question can only be reached by means of the HCM communication module or Remote Function Calls (RFCs).
  5. If the system is an external system to which data is to be transmitted via IS-HCM, you have to make additional specifications. Enter the logical name of the system (from the TXCOM communication table) in the XCOMname field (see the section entitled Requirements below). If desired, you can make a default setting with regard to the communication standard, communication standard version and special characters agreed upon for exchanging messages with the system in question. These specifications apply only if alternative communication settings have not been specified.

Should a different character set (to ISO 8859-1) be required on the partner system, you can specify the appropriate character set conversion. However, this is rarely necessary.
