In this menu option, you define the number ranges for orders.

Each order is uniquely identified by an order number within one client.

You allocate each order to a number range group via the order type. You can allocate several order types to the same number range and thus the same interval.

There are two types of number assignment:

  • Internal number assignment

When you create an order, the SAP System automatically assigns a consecutive number from the number range that you have defined.

  • External number assignment

When you create an order, you must specify a number from the allowed number range.

Requirements

In order to define number ranges for orders, you need an authorization for the number range object AUFTRAG. This object is checked in the authorization object S_NUMBER.

Standard settings

Number ranges are predefined for orders in the SAP default setting.

Activities

  1. Change or delete number ranges from the SAP standard system delivery if necessary.
  2. Define number ranges and number intervals for order types.
  3. Assign a group to each order type.

Notes on transport

You transport number range objects as follows:

Choose Interval -> Transport in the accounting document Number Range screen.

All intervals for the selected number range object are deleted in the target system first. After the import, only the intervals you export are present. The number statuses are imported with their values at the time of export.

Dependent tables are not transported or converted.
