In this IMG activity, you assign a message type to specific system messages defined by SAP. You thus determine how the system treats these messages. The following options are available:
- Suppress system message
- Display system message as a warning
- Display system message as an error message
These settings affect the system processes and allowed functionality.
Example
If a user calls a production version in the material master and the change rule specifies that an approval procedure must be followed for the production versions' recipe, the following system messages is triggered: C5 632 (Detailed plan requires approval).
If you mark this message as a warning message in Customizing, the message is displayed in the material master, but the user can still change the production version without following an approval procedure.
If you mark the message as an error message in Customizing, the user cannot change the production version in the material. He or she must change the production version in the recipe where it is subject to the same approval procedure as all other recipe data.
