In this step, you determine the depreciation areas in which you want to calculate interest. This specification means that this value type is allowed in the depreciation area (that is, the system does not issue an error message when you enter corresponding depreciation terms in the asset master record).
Recommendation
In most countries, interest calculation on assets is only allowed for cost accounting. If this applies to you, only allow the calculation of interest in the cost accounting depreciation area.
Requirements
You must have created at least one chart of depreciation of your own.
Standard settings
Depending on the country-specific chart of depreciation, SAP provides depreciation areas for interest calculation.
Activities
Set the indicator "management of interest" in the depreciation areas in question.
