In this step, you define the transaction types for asset acquisitions. You can also specify that for certain transaction types, only certain depreciation areas will be proposed for posting. The system then creates a popup window in the posting transaction, showing the depreciation areas that can be posted. If you specify that all depreciation areas should always be posted, the system suppresses the popup window.
Standard Settings
SAP provides transaction types for asset acquisitions. You can use these transaction types without making any changes to them.
Most standard transaction types are not limited to specific depreciation areas. That is, they post to all depreciation areas in a given chart of depreciation. Standard depreciation areas that ARE limited to certain depreciation areas are indicated by a short text.
SAP Recommendation
You should use the SAP standard transaction types. In that case, you do not have to anything further here. However, you may need to define your own transaction types after all, for one of the reasons listed below:
- You need transaction types
- that post only to certain depreciation areas in your chart of depreciation
- for which there is no corresponding transaction type with the necessary limitations.
- You want to have certain types of acquisitions appear in different asset history sheet items. For this situation, define acquisition transaction types and assign them to different history sheet groups (see Define history sheet groups).
- You need acquisition transaction types that do not lead to the capitalization of the assets posted. In this case, remove the indicator "capitalize asset."
- You want to monitor a budget using statistical orders/projects. In this case, set the indicator for statistical updating of an order/project (see the Sys.Adm.Guide: "Posting Procedure -> Statistical Posting of Assets under Construction").
Activity
- Create new transaction types to meet your specific needs. Use one of the letters X, Y, or Z, in one of the three characters of the key, in order to protect your key from being overwritten during future updgrades to your system.
- Specify the features of your new transaction types in the detail screen.
- Limit the transaction types, if needed, to certain depreciation areas.
If you do not make any selection here, then the transaction type will always post to all depreciation areas.
