In this step, you define cross-system depreciation areas. Using cross-system depreciationareas, you can assign a meaning to the local depreciation areas that is then valid in all charts of depreciation throughout your system. The cross-system depreciation area makes this possible, although the different depreciation areas have different keys in different charts of depreciation.
For each cross-system depreciation area, you can specify its own transfer methods in a transfer variant.
Example
Depreciation area XX has the same function or meaning in chart of depreciation 1XX as depreciation area YY does in chart of depreciation 1YY. You assign both of these depreciation areas to the key ZZ that is valid throughout the system. You have now created the cross-system depreciation area ZZ.
Requirements
You must have defined charts of depreciation.
Recommendation
You do not need cross-system depreciation areas, if all company codes in your client use the same chart of depreciation, or if the depreciation areas in your charts of depreciation that have the same purpose and meaning across the system also have the same keys.
You only need global depreciation areas if:
- You use different charts of depreciation, but individual depreciation areas nonetheless have the same meaning.
- A depreciation area is not intended to be transferred during intercompany transfer. In this case, do not assign this depreciation area to a cross-company depreciation area.
- You have individual depreciation areas with the same name, but their meanings are different.
Standard settings
SAP does not supply cross-system depreciation areas.
Activities
- Define cross-system depreciation areas (key and description) for depreciation areas that have the same meaning throughout the system.
- Set the chart of depreciation that you want to work with.
- Assign the local depreciation areas of your charts of depreciation to a cross-system depreciation area.
