In this step, you specify your own individual minimum retention period for asset objects (master data, values, transactions). The minimum retention period determines how long fixed assets and their values/documents must stay in the system before they can be reorganized or archived. This minimum retention period of asset objects results from adding the following components:

  • In the system, a minimum retention period of one year is specified. This retention period starts
    • for complete fixed assets (including master data), after the end of the fiscal year in which the deactivation was carried out
    • for values and documents, after closing of the fiscal year, in which the posting was made
  • You can also define a user-specific retention period.

Example

Deactivated asset 3/1/YYYY
System retention period 1 year
Customer retention period 1 year

=> The asset can be reorganized in the fiscal year YYYY+3 at the earliest (3 = current year + system retention period + user retention period).
