You need to carry out this implementation step if you do not post gain/loss to profit and loss accounts, but instead want to collect gain/loss on special assets (asset retirement variant 3 - for more information see Determine posting variants).
In this step you define the substitution rules for determining the assets, on which gain/loss should be posted.

Further notes (Transport)
In the overview screen of the transaction, you can include the substitution rules in a transport request (via Table view -> Transport). Note that the definition of the subsitution rule is specific to one client. Therefore, a transport is not only necessary between two systems (such as, from a test system to a production system), but also in order to make the substitution available in other clients.
