You only need to carry out this step if you plan to use line item settlement of assets under construction or
investment measures.

Every settlement in cost accounting has to by uniquely identified in the system. The system makes this identification by storing a settlement document under a separate number for each settlement that takes place. The system does this also for the line item settlement of an asset under construction or an investment measure. It creates a CO settlement document in the controlling area to which the asset or the investment measure belongs. The system determines the controlling area on the basis of the assignment of the company code to a controlling area.

In this step, you define the number range intervals for the settlement documents in one or more controlling areas. All controlling areas that use the same number range interval are called a number range group.

Recommendation

You should define separate number range intervals for settlement documents from different controlling areas. This improves performance when you carry out settlements in different controlling areas in parallel (for example, on the same day).

Activities

  1. Check which controlling area your company code belongs to. If necessary, assign your company code to a controlling area.
  2. Create a number range group (Group -> Maintain and Group -> Add).
  3. Enter a name for the number range group.
  4. Enter an interval for the number range group. In case the interval becomes full, you can also enter additional intervals.
  5. Choose one or more controlling areas that are under the heading 'not assigned.'
  6. Position the cursor on the number range group that you want to assign to the selected controlling areas.
  7. Assign the selected controlling areas to the number range group using Element/group and save your entries.

Further notes

You transport number range objects as follows:

Choose Interval -> Transport in the accounting document Number Range screen.

All intervals for the selected number range object are deleted in the target system first. After the import, only the intervals you export are present. The number statuses are imported with their values at the time of export.

Dependent tables are not transported or converted.
