In this step, you define the ports for the data transfer, using IDocs.

Information on the technical hook-up of external systems is stored in the port description. IDocs can be transmitted to an EDI system, using the port type DATEI. The INTERNET port type allows you to send IDocs as mail attachments via the Internet.

Requirements

There must be at least one port for each external system. To use the port, you must also make settings outside the IDoc interface:

• An EDI system must be set up for the DATEI port type.
• The gateway (SAP gateway or MS Exchange server) must be set up for the INTERNET port type.
