In this step you specify the initial inspection stage for when you are creating a new quality level. The system can either take the initial inspection stage from the dynamic modification rule, or can suggest an inspection stage from one of the reference dynamic modification levels as the initial inspection stage.
If there is no inspection stage in the proposed reference dyanamic modification level, the system searches the more general levels. If an inspection stage is not found in this way, the initial inspection stage is taken from the dynamic modification rule.
Example
For an inspection with a task list, dynamic modification has been lot-based up to now. You now want to use characteristic-based dynamic modification. You can use the inspection stage reached during lot-based dynamic modification as the initial inspection stage for characteristic-based dynamic modification.
Requirements
You perform inspections using sampling procedures and a dynamic modification rule.
Standard settings
The dynamic modification levels are already logically linked.
Recommendation
Keep the standard settings for the reference dynamic modification levels.
Activities
Check whether you need to deviate from the standard settings, and if required make different settings.
Further notes on Manually Creating the Quality Level
At present, you can only create quality levels manually for lot-based dynamic modification using transaction QDL1 during an inspection with an inspection plan. However, you cannot create quality levels manually for characteristic-based dynamic modification or lot-based dynamic modification at the level of the material or inspection type. In the latter cases, the system creates the quality level when the first inspection lot is created. Such inspection lots are inspected at the start of production using the initial inspection stage. By choosing a suitable initial inspection stage, you can avoid high inspection costs immediately after the start of production.
You can also avoid an unnecessary change of inspection stages after the start of production by transferring inspection stages from the old system. For more information, see note 136395 in OSS.
