In this step, you process the quality notification types that will be used with the defects recording function.

The chapter Notification Creation describes how to define the notification types. This chapter also contains detailed instructions on how to make the settings for all of the notification type-dependent controls.

In the section 'Notification Types' (chapter Defects Recording), carry out the following steps:

  • Check the settings of the notification types to be used for defects recording. These include:
    • The defined notification types themselves and the screen templates that belong to them
    • The content of the notification types (catalogs and catalog profiles)
  • Complete the settings associated with the notification type:
    • In the catalog profile, define the unit of measurement to permit the defects to be valuated quantitatively.
    • Assign a quality notification type to the inspection type.

Requirements

You have processed the section 'Notifications':

  • You have defined the notification types, catalogs and catalog profiles to be used for defects recording.
  • You have maintained all settings that are dependent on the notification type.
  • You do not need to maintain partners to use the defects recording function.

Standard settings

Notification types suitable for different inspection lot origins and inspection types have already been set up in the standard system.

Recommendation Copy the notification types that are contained in the system.

  • If you define your own notification types, use the settings contained in the standard system as a reference.
  • Use separate notification types for defects recording and for other types of quality notifications, so you can distinguish the defect data from the other problem data on the basis of the notification type.

Activities

  1. Check the notification types that will be used for defects recording.
    1. Identify the notification types that will be used for defects recording
    2. Check the catalogs and catalog profiles as well as their assignment to the notification type.
    3. Check the screen settings for these notificaton types.
  2. if you want to use a defect valuation, you can assign units of measurement to the appropriate catalog profiles.
  3. Assign an appropriate notification type to all inspection types with which you intend to record defects.

Further notes

  • You can valuate defects quantitatively if you activate the defect valuation function in the confirmation profile. You can specify a unit of measurement for the defect valuation and propose it in the catalog profile. The unit of measurement must have been previously defined. For more information, refer to the step units of measurement in the section Environment.
  • When you assign notification types to the inspection types, the definition of the screens (subscreens) for the notification type is important. These screens must be compatible with the inspection lot origin to which the inspection type in question is assigned.
