In this step you define the statistical evaluations that you want to carry out in an external system with the help of the QM STI (QM statistical interface).
You can find a description of the QM STI for the statistical evaluation of characteristic values in the SAP library.
QM STI evaluations are defined using evaluation methods and evaluation steps.
in the QM transactions you can only use the evaluation methods that you define and release in this work step.
Requirements
- You must use quantitative characteristics with single-value recording
- You want to evaluate the inspection results in an external system.
- You have a statistical system that uses an interface compatible with the QM STI.
Standard settings
The following evaluation methods are provided in the standard system:
- SAP_DOWNLOAD stores the content of the interface tables on the front-end server as data.
- SAP_EXCEL loads the content of the interface tables transferred by SAP_DOWNLOAD into a Microsoft Excel work folder and displays the run-chart of all single values.
- SAP_WEIBULL_REGRESSION determines the Weibull distribution for predefined fractions of nonconforming units.
The table has the delivery class G. The following name range is reserved for the user:
- Evaluation method X*, Y*, Z*
- Evaluation steps 1*, ..., 8*
Recommendation
When creating evaluation steps, consult the documentation for the associated statistical system. This should give you the names and parameters of the evaluation steps you can use.
Activities
Proceed in the following order:
- Maintain the RFC destinations
- Define the evaluation methods
- Define the evaluation steps
Technical information About RFC destinations
From the SAP standpoint, the associated statistical systems represent server programs that can be called up by the QM STI using Remote Function Call (RFC). You use RFC destinations to communicate with RFC server programs. These destinations are maintained with transaction SM59, and they specify which program on which computer can be used, and how the program can be accessed in the network.
Recommendation for allocating names to RFC destinations
In a SAP system there can be several different RFC destinations. For QM STI evaluations however, you can only use those destinations that are connected to a compatible statistical system. To ensure that the user only accesses these compatible RFC destinations, you can define a generic key for the allowed RFC destinations in the evaluation method. You should take the generic key name into consideration, when allocating names for the RFC destinations.
For example, if you name your RFC destinations for the QM STI QM_STI_01, QM_STI_02 and QM_STI_03, and define the generic key in the evaluation method as QM_STI_, the system only offers the user the RFC destinations that start with QM_STI_.
RFC destinations of type 'T' for TCP/IP connections are used for the QM STI. With this connection type you have the following options for starting external programs:
- Starting on the local PC
The statistical system is started on the respective PC when you call up the QM STI evaluation. In this option you maintain the file name and the directory path of the statistical system on the local PC. You can find information on how to do this in the documentation for the statistical system.
- Tip: If you want to use the same RFC destination on several different PCs you should install the statistical system in the same directories on the local PCs.
- Starting on the application server
The statistical system is started on the application server when you call up the QM STI evaluation. In this option you maintain the file name and the directory path of the statistical system on the application server.
- Registration
The statistical system is started without involving the SAP system and logs on to the SAP gateway. By using the type 'T' RFC destination, the same program on the same PC is always called. In this option you maintain a program ID and define an SAP gateway. The statistical system always logs on to the same program ID and the same SAP gateway.
- Tip: Use this option if you want to make automatic valuations in the background.
