Use
In this activity, you assign the G/L account numbers and their related posting keys to which the system automatically posts the opening entry and offsetting entry as part of an accrual/deferral posting occurring during period-end valuation in materials management. You can also set up rules for the account assignment, which control any factors on which the account assignments may depend.
For more information about how the system determines G/L accounts, see Customizing for Materials Management under Valuation and Account Assignment -> Account Determination-> Account Determination Without Wizard -> Configure Automatic Postings.
Requirements
You have created a G/L account master record (transaction FS00) for both the accrual/deferral posting and for the accrual/deferral offsetting posting.
For more information about the prerequisites, see Customizing for Materials Management under Valuation and Account Assignment -> Account Determination-> Account Determination Without Wizard -> Configure Automatic Postings.
Standard settings
In the standard system, opening entry (PEA) keys and offsetting entry (PEO) keys for the accrual/deferral posting are provided for period-end valuation.
Activities
- Select a posting transaction and specify a chart of accounts.
Note:
You can change the chart of accounts by choosing Edit -> Change Chart of Accounts from the menu. You have to define the account determination separately for each chart of accounts. The Account Determination checkbox indicates whether or not automatic account determination is provided for a transaction. You configure the data below for each posting transaction depending on the chart of accounts:
- Account Assignment
You must assign G/L accounts for each posting transaction. You can either create these account assignments manually or by copying them from another chart of accounts by choosing Edit -> Copy from the menu.
- Rules for Account Assignments
Choose Goto -> Rules in the menu to configure factors on which the account assigments are dependent:
- Credit/debit indicator
- General modification
- Valuation grouping code
- Valuation class
- Posting Keys for the Posting Line Items
Choose Goto -> Posting Key from the menu to check whether the assigned posting keys are correct. If you want to use new posting keys, define these first in Customizing for Financial Accounting (New) under Financial Accounting Global Settings (New) -> Document -> Define Posting Keys.
We recommend that you use posting keys for the credit/debit posting that have G/L Account as their account type.
