In this section you can define the number ranges for change pointers.

Requirements

Change pointers are needed to generate IDocs from the application documents. Internal numbers are assigned to these pointers for unique identification. The system can only generate the numbers, if a number range is maintained in number range 01.

Example

Number range    From number    To number

01    0000100000    1000000000

Standard settings

SAP provides the number range for change pointers.

Activities

If you must create number range 01, proceed as follows:

  1. Execute the function. The screen for number range maintenance appears. With Interval -> Display, you can see whether a number range was already maintained.
  2. If no number range is defined, choose Interval -> Maintain.
  3. In the "Maintain Intervals" screen, choose Edit -> Insert interval.
  4. Enter the number of interval 01 and a number range. Choose Insert to complete the entry.
  5. Choose Interval -> Check to check whether your entry is error-free.
  6. Save your entry.

Notes on the transport

You transport number range objects as follows:

Choose Interval -> Transport in the accounting document Number Range screen.

All intervals for the selected number range object are deleted in the target system first. After the import, only the intervals you export are present. The number statuses are imported with their values at the time of export.

Dependent tables are not transported or converted.
