Each customizing data object that is to be distributed is maintained on a source system. The customizing data for this object is distributed from this system to the other systems. The other systems do not have the authorization to maintain the customizing data object.
The customizing data model specifies which system is the source system and for which customizing data objects, and where the customizing data from this system is distributed to. You can also specify several source systems for one customizing object. If you do, you must ensure that the message sender and receiver receive the individual customizing data objects required for the message from the same source system. The source system for a customizing data object must not send the object to a different source system for the same object.
The customizing data model is maintained in one central system and is distributed from there to all other decentralized systems. The contents of all distribution models that are used in the distributed environment must be known to the maintenance system.
Activities
- After executing this function an overview of all the communications connections togther with their message flows out of your distribution model is displayed.
- Place the cursor on a message type and select 'Customizing data modelling.
- You will see a list of the customizing data tables for the message type.
- For each of these tables you can display the associated customizing data objects. There may be other tables or customizing data objects attached to these.
- For each customizing data object a check is made to find out which is th source system for the control data object. The color in the display indicates the result of checking the objects (see color key).
- In the case of warning messages or errors you should place the cursor on the customizing data object and choose Edit -> Detail.
- Double-click on the warning or error message in the detail screen.
- In the pop-up window that appears you should specify the system that is to be the source system for the customizing data object and in which model view the customizing data distribution is to be modelled. Then select 'Update model'. The customizing data model will be modified accordingly.
- Repeat this procedure until you have dealt with all the error messages and have defined a source system for all the customizing data objects to be distributed.
Further notes
Maintain the control data model only on the system that is intended to be the central maintenance system for the control data model. If a system has been used for maintaining a control data model, then it is not possible to transport a customizing data model which was created on another system to this system.
