Here you define, per equipment type, whether you want a stock check to take place for performance-based equipment or not.
Notes
If a stock check takes place, a performance-based equipment document can only be written if the piece of equipment was sent to the ship-to party with a shipping document.
Result in settlement: only the PBE document that has been entered is taken into account in settlement and not the shipping document for this period.
If, however, the indicator Calculate PBE as TBE (that specifies that performance-based equipment should be handled in the same way as time-based equipment) is set in the customer master record, only the shipping document is included in settlement.
If no stock check is set to take place for the equipment type, a PBE document can be written for the equipment at any time and for any ship-to party. The piece of equipment does not have to be available/physically present at the appropriate recipient.
If a shipping document and a PBE document exist for a piece of equipment in a period to be settled, both documents are take into account in settlement.
Recommendation
To avoid objects being settled twice (SD order items from shipping document and PBE document), you should lock the shipping document against document entry for equipment types that you do not require a stock check to be made for.
You can do this by not selecting the entry "shipping document" in the allowed document categories section of the equipment master record.
