In this IMG activity, you define groups of additional data, define the function modules to be used to process them and assign materials to them.
Additional data allows you to transfer required (customer-specific) data and values from external systems to the R/3 System and, conversely, to transfer data from the R/3 System to external systems and evaluate them there, if required.
Groups of additional data:
Function modules:
Assigned materials:
Example
The following example SAP_TELNUM refers to selecting a telephone number for a new customer connection via an external system.
1. Define groups
Name of additional data | LA | Description
------------------------------------------
SAP_TELNUM | EN | Tel. no.
The group of additional data called SAP_TELNUM is recorded in English with the description Tel. no.
2. Assign function modules (FMs)
Name of addit. data SAP_TELNUM
FM name edit IST_ADD_TELNUM
FM name save IST_ADD_TELNUM_SAVE
3. Assign material
Material | Name of additional data | Add. data active | Data maint.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
A-1 | SAP_TELNUM | X |
LM_ISDN | SAP_TELNUM | X |
For both materials (both new telephone connections), the additional data is to be transfered from the SAP_TELNUM group.
In both cases data maintenance is not necessary. The data is captured in the background without any action on the part of the CSR.
Additional data entry is activated.
Recommendation
Activities
- First define the groups.
- Enter the name of the additional data, the language key and the description in this language.
- Save.
- Select the entry and choose assign material.
- Enter the materials concerned in the material column.
- Set the Add.data active indicator, if the additional data for this material is to be included. If the material is being used for test purposes in ICOM, then it is better to set the additional data to inactive.
- Set the Maintain data indicator, if the data is not to be captured in the background, but is only to be entered after being checked by the CSR.
- Save and go back.
- Finally assign the function modules.
- Enter the FM name for editing the additional data and the FM name for saving them.
- Save.
