Activities
- Create your extension. To do this, either create a new project or use an existing one.
Supplement the coding supplied by SAP to form a transaction that contains the elements you require. SAP provides the necessary function modules with short text, interface, and documentation. The user exits may have sample coding that has been created by SAP; you can use (and change) this coding as necessary.
- Activate the project.
The ABAP coding is run through first. The extensions have no effect until this point.
Further notes
In contrast to modifications, extensions are generally upgrade- compatible, since they are implemented in a customer namespace, not in the original SAP objects.
The exact procedure for creating extensions is described in the documentation "Extending SAP Transactions". To view this documentation, select path Utilities -> Online manual in the extension transaction.
Every extension is documented. This documentation is displayed by pressing the "SAP Doc." pushbutton in the extension transaction.
