In this activity you define treatment contexts within clinical order.

Use

With the clinical order you can enter a patient for a surgery or treatment appointment or an inpatient admission appointment.

As well as planning these appointments, you can also

  • request services from additional service facilities and
  • plan further visit appointments

from the clinical order, for the organization of the treatment process.

The system will display these additional service requests and visit appointments - grouped together as treatment contexts - as tab pages in the clinical order. Treatment contexts are freely definable.

Treatment contexts may have various statuses. For example, you can use a treatment context to bundle the service requests and appointments of a certain phase of the treatment process. The status of the treatment context indicates the status of this phase.

Requirements

Standard settings

As standard, you can schedule a surgery/treatment appointment and an admission appointment in the clinical order. Additionally, you can define treatment contexts for scheduling further visit appointments.

Activities

  1. In the Context field, you enter the 3 digit context code. This code is used internally to identify the context within the system: it is not visible to the user.
  2. In the Abbreviation field, you enter the term under which the user will see the context.
  3. The Description describes the context.
  4. You select the Status field if you wish to define a number of statuses. If you select Status, the clinical order will offer an input field, which you can use to set the status.
  5. Select the Treatment Context field.
  6. No other fields in the current row are relevant to the definition of treatment contexts.
  7. If you have selected the Status field, you should then select the entire row and go to the Context Status file.
    1. In the Status field you enter the abbreviation of the status which the context may have.
    2. The content of the Description field describes the status.
    3. As an option, you can define that an icon should represent the status. To do this, you access the input help (F4) of the Icon field and select an icon for the status.
    4. In the Sequence field you can enter ascending numbers which determine the position of the status in the input help (F4).
    5. You set the Initial indicator for the status which the system should automatically preset when you create a context. You should set the Initial indicator for only one status per context.

Example

You wish to preregister patients for surgeries. For a preregistered patient you should be able to organize a clarification phase, where you request services from other service facilities and schedule appointments, from the clinical order.

You should be able to recognize in the pregistration whether the clarification phase is completed or not.

You define

  • a Clarification context. The context should have a status, so you set the Status indicator.
  • For the Clarification context you define the statuses In Process and Complete.
