Use

In this IMG activity, you create and manage closets. Closets are decentralized "warehouses" in organizational units. They are divided into storage locations organized with shelves and bins that are used as material "addresses".

From a technical system perspective, closets are not inventory-managed "warehouses" that support a detailed delivery address of materials for the replenishment process. The materials kept in a closet are considered to have already been consumed from a business perspective.

In the Material Requisition, when a material is requested, the system transfers this material's address into the Goods Recipient field of the MM document (reservation or purchase requisition). In this way, the delivery address of a material is available, for example, for a goods issue/goods receipt slip.

If needs be, you can implement the Business Add-In (BAdI) IS-H MM: Transfer Closet Storage Location into MM Document (ISH_MM_STORL2MMDOC) to influence the address format or, alternatively, to transfer the storage location information into the Unloading Point field.

Requirements

You can only assign materials, which you have already assigned to the organizational unit by means of catalogs, to the storage locations in closets. You make this assignment in the IMG activity Assign Material Catalogs to OUs.

Before you start Customizing, create an internal number range for the object Closets as follows:

  • Object - ISH_NMSTOR
  • Institution - <blank>
  • Operation mode - N
  • Object key - *

With these settings, you do not have to manually assign the closet ID. The system automatically determines the value from the defined number range.

Standard settings

Activities

On the overview screen of the IMG activity, define a closet by entering the relevant ID and short text, and assign it spatially to a building unit of the SAP Patient Management building hierarchy. Alternatively, you can enter an address from central address management in the Name column. Assign a unique closet number for each organizational unit.

You enter storage locations in a closet by selecting a closet in the overview, and then choose Storage Locations.

You can assign a material to a storage location and specify default values for the order or for the replenishing of the storage location. To do this, make entries in the following fields:

  • Quantity Ordered (default quantity ordered)
  • Order Unit

Alternatively, for replenishment using a default order quantity, you can enter the current stock level of a material at the storage location in the OU-related material requisition, and initiate an order whenever the stock level falls below the target level. To do this, make the following entries:

  • Reorder Point
  • Maximum Stock Level

If a material in an organizational unit is kept in several storage locations in closets, set the indicator D (IS-H MM: Default Storage Location for Material Requisition) for the storage location that is to be used for replenishment in the OU-related material requisition.

Example

Further notes

The materials assigned to the storage locations have references to the logistics material master. Modifications to the material master can result in inconsistencies that you can detect and correct using the report IS-H: Check Consistency of Material Catalogs (RNUMKAT2).

You can create and print clearly laid out lists of closets using the report IS-H MM: Closet List (RNUMSTOR0).
