In this IMG activity, you maintain the control parameters for archiving objects ISH_FALL and SD_VBRK. The settings you make apply to all clients. This considerably cuts down your maintenance effort.
Exception: The program variants for the action Start Delete Program are client-specific. You have to maintain them identically in each client. (See also below).
Activities
- Execute the following functions for the objects ISH_FALL and SD_VBRK. To do this, select the archive object you want to maintain, and then choose Customizing Settings.
- Maintain the parameters of the archiving object:
- Logical File Name
Platform-independent logical file name for the archive file. Please read the F1 documentation.
- Size of Archive File
- in MB
- maximum permissible number of data objects for the archive file
If either of these values is exceeded while an archive file is being written, the system automatically creates a new file.
- Settings for Delete Program
Here you maintain parameters for the delete program. The delete program deletes the archived data, which the write program created, from the database.
- Start Automatic. indicator
- Deselect this indicator since the delete program should not be started automatically.
- Commit Counter field
- This parameter specifies the number of data objects after which the program sends a commit to the database. The size of the value in this field directly influences the performance of the program.
- TestSessVariant field
- Name of the variant of the program for the test run. You can maintain the specified variant using the Variant pushbutton.
- Caution: These variants are client-specific! You only maintain the variant of the current client at this point. You must create the same variant for all other clients and immediately set parameters.
- Prod. Session Variant field
- Name of the variant of the delete program for the production run. You can maintain the specified variant using the Variant pushbutton.
- Caution: These variants are client-specific! You only maintain the variant of the current client at this point. You must create the same variant for all other clients and set parameters immediately.
- Build Index
This parameter lets you specify whether an index is to be built for the read program. The read program for archiving object ISH_FALL functions without an index. However, since this parameter is also relevant for internal functions, it must remain selected. You can ignore the archive administration warning to the effect that an index doesn't exist.
To view the cases you've archived, use the Archive Explorer (transaction code SARI). You can create your own archive information structure using the field catalog contained in the standard system (SAP_ISH_FALL000) and use it to evaluate the archived data. The Archive Explorer uses a separate index that cannot be controlled via the Customizing entries you make here.
