In this IMG activity, you transfer data into the dangerous goods master.
Example
The following example shows lines 1 to 3 of the exported *.TXT file (the first line of the file corresponds to the first column in the example, and so on). You obtain the *.TXT file when you have fulfilled the following prerequisites:
To create the first database, you require authorizations for Customizing, CATT, and for dangerous goods management.
Make sure that you keep to the following sequence:
- Check the data in the IMG activity Check Customizing Settings.
- Create the change numbers that you require for data records for the import file for the dangerous goods master. To do this, in the SAP Easy Access Menu choose Cross-Application Components -> Engineering Change Management -> Change Number -> Create. If you have not created a change number for a data record in the dangerous goods master, the system enters the proposal 01.01.0001 as the key date.
- Identify the relevant fields:
- To do this, compare your legacy data with the data fields in the system.
- Specify which fields can be transferred directly from the legacy data to the system.
- For fields that cannot be supplied directly from the legacy data, create rules to determine how you want to fill the data fields in the SAP system.
- Decide whether you want to transfer your legacy data using CATT or manually.
- If you want to transfer the data with CATT, you export template files of the type *.TXT using the Computer Aided Test Tool. See also: Creating Import Files Using CATT.
- For each *.TXT file, create a text import file that contains a data record to be imported.
Note:
Edit the file on your front-end PC using a spreadsheet program, for example, Microsoft Excel. Then check the imported data record in the system using the transactions available to you for maintaining data manually. Make sure that processing is free of errors before you start mass processing.
- Enter your required data in the *.TXT files and execute the IMG activity Transfer Dangerous Goods Masters as First Database.
- To archive the import log, start the archive job and delete the CATT logs. (You can plan a periodic job for both processes if you wish.)
Note:
To call the archiving function, choose Tools -> Administration -> Administration -> Archiving. Enter CATPROARCH as the object and choose Archive.
You will find more information in the documentation on archiving.
The sequence of values in the example corresponds to the sequence on the screens and may deviate from the sequence of values displayed after you have exported the *.TXT file.
The third column contains sample default values for the third line of the file.
