Use
This IMG activity describes the generating of symbols.
Requirements
- You have created the classes of class type 100 and the corresponding characteristics and value assignment types, see Adopt Standard Specification Database Structure and Specify Value Assignment Types.

- You have specified the relevant table fields in the IMG activity Specify Tables for Report Symbol Generation.
Activities
- In the Basic Data and Tools menu, choose Tools -> Match Up Master Data.
- Select Generate Symbols and execute the activity.
The system creates symbols for the entries in the IMG activities Specify Value Assignment Types and Specify Tables for Report Symbol Generation.

Further notes
You can generate new symbols at any point in time.
The structure of the symbol table is described in the IMG activity Check and Specify Report Symbols.
Symbol Keys
Symbols generated by master data matchup are assigned a key that follows a specific algorithm. The key begins with G. The subsequent characters are constructed as follows:
- In the case of table fields, the table name and the first 5 characters of the field name are added.
- In the case of properties, certain characters of the class name and certain characters of the characteristic name are added.
- If this method produces identical keys, the system assigns a serial number to the key. This serial number starts at the tenth character of the key and works backwards.
