Use

In this IMG activity, you specify for which tables located in SAP applications other than those in Environment, Health and Safety you want to generate symbols. Furthermore, you specify for which fields of the respective tables symbols are to be generated.

Standard settings

The standard system contains all entries required to generate symbols for specification management and material safety data sheet shipping.

Activities

  1. Select the source type.
  2. Enter the table or value assignment type.
  3. Enter any other required data.
  4. If you want to restrict the generation to specific fields, choose Source Restriction and enter those fields.
  5. Save your entries.

Further notes

Generated symbols are assigned an alphanumeric symbol key. The key is generated from the keys of the referenced data object following a specific algorithm.

The key begins with a "G". The subsequent characters are created as follows:

  • In the case of table fields, the table name and the first five characters of the field name are added.
  • In the case of properties, certain characters of the class name and certain characters of the characteristic name are added.
  • If this method produces identical keys, the system assigns a serial number to the key. This serial number commences with the tenth character of the key.
