Use

In this Customizing activity, you set up the Remote Function Call (RFC) destination in the SAP system.

Requirements

You have processed the Customizing activity Install Generation PC.

Standard settings

Activities

Create the RFC Destination

  1. Choose Edit -> Create under RFC Destinations (Display/Maintain) (transaction SM59).

    The RFC Destination screen appears.

  2. Enter the following data:
    • RFC Destination: RFC destination name, for example, DEST_GENPC1
    • This entry is used in the Customizing activity Specify Generation Servers.
Note: This entry can be different from the DEST entry in SAPRFC.INI.
    • Connection Type: T
    • Connection type T stands for TCP/IP connections.
    • Description: Document your RFC destination.
  3. On the Technical Settings tab page under Activation Type, set the Registered Server Program indicator.
  4. Under Registered Server Program, enter a unique identification in the Program ID field.
    • We recommend that you enter the name of the RFC destination. The entry must match the PROGID entry in the SAPRFC.INI file of the corresponding generation server.
    • Note: When you set up the generation server using EH&S service administration, the PROGID entry is generated automatically.
  5. If the SAP system comprises multiple application servers, you must specify under Gateway Options the gateway of the application server under which the WWI generation server has registered itself. Enter the values for the parameters GWHOST and GWSERV from the SAPRFC.INI file of the WWI generation server for the Gateway Host and Gateway Service input fields (the gateway host is entered without a router string in the gateway options). See the IMG activity Specify General Settings.

Repeat this step for all generation servers in the SAP system you are using.

Test the RFC Destination

To do this, you must have executed the Customizing activity Install Generation PC and the Create the RFC Destination step mentioned above.

  1. Open RFC Destinations (Display/Maintain) (transaction SM59).
  2. In the RFC destinations tree, choose RFC Destinations -> TCP/IP Connections -> <name of your destination> and call the destination to be checked by double-clicking.
  3. Choose Test Connection.

The test is running successfully if the transfer duration is displayed. During the test, you can check in the WWIRFCSV window on the generation server whether the server has been called by the SAP system.
