Use
You monitor the WWI services in this Customizing activity if you do not use the EH&S administration management server.
EhsStart monitors the WWI services cyclically and executes a restart in the event of an error.
Requirements
- You have installed a supported version of the Microsoft Windows operating system. For more information about supported versions, see SAP Note 568302.
- You have executed the EH&S Expert setup or the WWI setup on your PC.
Standard settings
EhsStart as a service comprises the two files EHSSTART.EXE and WIN32SVC.DLL. These are copied automatically by the WWI setup and EH&S Expert setup to the directory for the corresponding installation.
In addition, the installation directory should contain the administration program SVCADMIN.EXE, which can be used to install, configure, and start services.
Activities
- To install EHSSTART.EXE as a service, follow the instructions again as described for Set Up Generation Server As a Windows Service. Use the following different parameters:
Host <Name of local PC>

Display name For example: Eh&S Failure Recovery
Executable path <WWI or Expert Bin directory>\EHSSTART.EXE
Service arguments

- Test the service:
- Start and stop the EH&S Failure Recovery service using the SVCADMIN.EXE program or the services control in Windows.
- Use the event display to check whether the respective commands in the application log file have been logged and whether the language-dependent texts for the events are displayed in the detail view.
To install, uninstall, configure, or check services with the administration program SVCADMIN.EXE, you will require local administrator rights on the respective PC.
