Use

In this Customizing activity, you install Windows Wordprocessor Integration (WWI). The following installation types are available:

  • Work center for editing report templates (local or central installation)

If you want to edit report templates, run this installation. With it, you can also use your work center as an information work center or for labeling.

  • Information/labeling work center (local or central installation)

At the information work center, you can use all applications that can display documents in RTF format. If you want to use dynamic text adjustment, you have to choose option 1 as the display application during installation, with which you define Microsoft Word as the display application.

With option 2, you can use any application that can display documents in RTF format. However, dynamic text adjustment is not available in this case.

  • WWI file server installation

If you want to set up the installation for editing report templates or an information work center based on a central installation, you must run the file server installation on a central server.

  • Generation server (see Notes on Configuration of Generation PCs)

If you want to generate ready-to-ship reports, you have to execute the installation as a generation server.

  • GLM Print Tool (see IMG activity Install Program for Label Printing on Workplace PC), if you only want to print labels.

Note:

We recommend that you carry out the installation with administrator rights. If you use Microsoft Word 2003, make sure that you make one of the following settings for all Windows users who use WWI or under which the generation server is being run:

  • Choose Tools -> Macro -> Security and then choose the macro security level Low on the Security Level tab.
  • Choose Tools -> Macro -> Security and then choose the macro security level Medium or High on the Security Level tab, set the Trust all installed add-ins and templates indicator on the Trusted Sources tab, and make sure that the settings for user templates or workgroup templates under Tools -> Options -> File Locations refer to the directory in which the WWI.DOT file can be found. The installation configures the latter automatically after confirmation, but only for the user under which the installation was executed.

Instead of changing the Microsoft Word settings for user or workgroup templates, you can also copy the WWI.DOT, WWIDISPL.DOT, and WWILAYT.DOT files manually to one of the preset template directories. Make sure that you update or delete any file versions in the template directories that originate from earlier installations.

Requirements

  • You have installed a 32-bit SAP GUI. This does not apply for the generation server or WWI file server installation installation types.
  • You have installed a supported version of Microsoft Word. For more information about supported versions, see SAP Note 568302.

Note:

Setup creates a new WWI.INI file. If you want to continue using the settings of your previous WWI.INI file, you should save them first under another name and then match up the new WWI.INI to the old WWI.INI.

Activities

You will find the installation program for all WWI installation types on the current SAP Server Components CD. Execute the program and follow the user instructions.

Note: Since SAP Front End 6.20, you can install the information /labeling work center together with the SAP front end. Also use the current version here. For the installation, choose EH&S WWI in the component tree of the setup wizard for the SAP front end. Option 1 described above is selected automatically if Microsoft Word is installed, and option 2 if none of the Microsoft Word versions are available.

The program creates the selected installation directory (for example: C:\WWI) on the PC with the following directory structure:

  • GRAPHICS
  • LANG (language)
  • LAYOUT

The LAYOUT directory contains sample templates and a sample library that contains, for example, phrases for reports (headings, for example) (see also Import Sample Templates).

Comments

  • For the work center for editing report templates and information /labeling work center installation types, you are asked whether you want to run a local installation or use an existing installation on a server. In the second case, you must have run the WWI file server installation first. You must also have specified the directory for the server installation of the WWI files when choosing a target folder. The directory for the server installation must be known by the same name for all client installations, that is, it must be linked either by the same drive letter or the URL path (\\file server\directory...).
  • For the installation type information/labeling work center, you are asked to specify which display application you require for reports. If you choose option 1 to display EH&S reports with Microsoft Word, you must have installed Microsoft Word. If you choose option 2 to display EH&S reports via the operating system, the application used to display reports is the application linked to the file extension RTF in the operating system.
  • For labeling, Microsoft must be installed.

For central installation:

Set up access to the file server by linking the networks. In the following description, Z:\ has been chosen as the sample path. For PCs that access the server, the WWI directory structure is found under Z:\WWI\.

Note: You can also link to the network by specifying the file server. Example: \\Fileserver\WWI

Further notes

Language-specific hyphenation is supported, as the texts added using the program Windows Wordprocessor Integration (WWI) are coded in Microsoft Word with the current report language. This is the prerequisite for Word to be able to use language-specific hyphenation once the hyphenation aids (proofing tools, hyphenation files) have been installed for the languages used. Multiple language reports are also supported.

For East Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean), these hyphenation tools are only available from Microsoft Word 2000. There they are part of the Microsoft Office MultiLanguage Packs. You should install these Word enhancements on the generation server and on the workstations so that WWI reports can be displayed and printed consistently.

For your information system/labeling workstations, you can configure the following in the WWI.INI file:

  • Document protection that can be set for document display

The document protection affects page numbering, scrolling, and the Microsoft Word search functions.

The following document protection types are available in Microsoft Word (see Tools -> Protect Document; see also the relevant Word documentation on the subject of Protecting a document):

0 = Editing allowed, no data protection

1 = Comments allowed (set by WWI as default if you have not set any other configuration in the WWI.INI file)

    2 = Form fields allowed

    3 = Revisions allowed

Document protection type 1 allows Microsoft Word comments to be inserted.

Document protection type 3 allows you to change the document and the changes are marked with revision marks.

With these two document protection types you can search in the document and copy lines of text to the clipboard. However, Microsoft Word does not update the page numbers in the display correctly. They only appear correctly in the printout.

Document protection type 2 is actually intended for data input using form fields, but provides the best protection for a document. In this mode the menu commands for searching and copying to the clipboard are grayed out. The page numbers are displayed correctly. However, you cannot page in the document using the scroll keys, but only with the mouse.

Since WWI SP18, you can activate a password protection for the document by activating the UsePassword option in the WWI.INI, for example, ReportDisplayUsePassword=1. The password is generated internally by WWI. No password can be predefined at this point for security reasons.

  • Document template and the visible Microsoft Word menus and toolbars

For display purposes, you can assign your own document template to the document. With the standard system, WWI provides a document template WWIDISPL.DOT and assigns it if you have not set another configuration. This document template grays out all entry functions in all Microsoft Word menus. If no special document template is to be assigned, you must specify the keyword none in the WWI.INI file as the value for the corresponding lines ReportDisplayDot, ReportEditDot<
