In this menu option, you define the number ranges for the phrase key.

Each phrase is identified via a phrase key within one client.

There are two types of number assignment:

  • Internal number assignment

    When you create a phrase, the SAP system automatically assigns a consecutive number from the number range interval you have specified.

  • External number assignment

    When you create a phrase you have to assign a number from the permitted number range interval.

Requirements

To be able to define number ranges for the phrase key, you need authorization for number range object "ESN_PHRID". This object is checked in authorization object S_NUMBER.

Standard settings

In the standard version of the SAP system, number ranges for the phrase key are already defined.

Activities

  1. Write down the number range keys predefined by SAP.
  2. If necessary, change or delete number ranges contained in the standard version of the SAP system.
  3. Specify the internal number range and the external number range as well as the number range intervals.

Note on transport

You transport number range objects as follows:

Choose Interval -> Transport in the accounting document Number Range screen.

All intervals for the selected number range object are deleted in the target system first. After the import, only the intervals you export are present. The number statuses are imported with their values at the time of export.

Dependent tables are not transported or converted.
