Use
Usage profiles combine ratings and validity areas and simplify the assignment of usages to value assignments and header data (identifiers, restrictions, and specification statuses).
In this IMG activity, you define the usage profiles and assign ratings and validity areas to them. If you then assign a usage profile in the application to your user or to value assignment types or header data in Customizing, the system proposes the rating and the validity area of the usage profile automatically when you enter the value assignment or header data. You can overwrite these default values.
Requirements
You have specified the required validity areas and ratings.
Standard settings
Default settings are shipped.
Activities
- In collaboration with your user departments analyze which usages are most frequent.
- Define the usage profile keys and enter the language-dependent descriptions.
- Assign ratings and validity areas to the usage profile.
- Assign the usage profiles in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools under Specify Value Assignment Types to the corresponding value assignment types and header data by entering the required usage profile in the Usage profile field in the detail view.

Further notes
Note that you can also flag validity areas as for exclusion. This makes it easier to assign usages.
