You can create any number of user-defined texts for a value assignment. These user-defined texts are distinguished on the basis of user-defined text type and language.
- You can define whether a user-defined text can be used dependent on characteristics:
If a user-defined text is created with a characteristic-dependent user-defined text type for a value assignment type as a value assignment, the user-defined text does not refer to the entire value assignment. Instead, it refers to one particular characteristic in the value assignment type.
Characteristic-dependent user-defined text types are required for importing phrases if the phrases are to be imported as value assignments for phrase-enabled characteristics but the phrases do not exist in the target system. You can then create phrases as a characteristic-dependent user-defined text for the characteristic, and assign a value to that characteristic using the phrase see user-defined text, for example.
- In addition, you can define the maximum number of user-defined texts that may be created with the current user-defined text type per value. If you choose 0 as a value, the number of user-defined texts is unlimited.
- You can enter documents (for example, graphics) from the SAP component Document Management (DMS) in the value assignment dialog box in the User-defined texts tab page if you have set the Document assignment indicator for the relevant user-defined text type in the IMG activity Specify User-Defined Text Types.
You can open the document entered as a user-defined text to display it by double-clicking, as long as the application required for the document format is installed locally.
Documents that are entered as user-defined texts can be output on reports using the symbol for the start of a user-defined text (see also IMG activity Adapt WWI.INI).
Example
User-defined texts for:
- Method
- Test substance
- Check conditions
- Comments on results
Standard settings
SAP ships a number of proposals for user-defined texts, for example:
CT country
ME method
RE reference
RL validity
RM comment
RS result
SO source
TC test condition
TS test substance
Activities
Specify together with your individual departments which types of user-defined texts are needed.
You must assign a specification category to each user-defined text type.
Further notes
You can enter new types of user-defined texts at any time. Once you have used a certain text type in a production system, you cannot delete it.
