Use
In this IMG activity, you define terms for the commodity pricing engine (CPE). A commodity pricing formula has to include at least one term. The value of all terms included in a formula is combined to give the formula value.
The term is defined by a term ID and a condition type. If a condition type is not specified, a term can be used in all formulas. If a condition type is specified, the use of this term is restricted to the formulas that have this condition type.
A term contains the following:
- Description
- Calculation type
- Term rule
- Quotation data:
- Quotation group or
- Quotation source, type, and name or
- DCS ID, MIC, price type, and time of maturity
- Reference data (document category, number, item and condition type)
- Fixed value (rate, currency, price unit and UoM)
Depending on the calculation type, normally only one of the following types of data is used: quotation data, reference data, or fixed value.

You can restrict the use of a term to certain areas in purchasing. If you want to do this, you have to define these areas as valid areas. If no valid areas are defined, the use of the term is unrestricted and it can be used in all areas.
For all steps during a term evaluation where a currency and/or quantity conversion must be performed, you can define a certain conversion rule. This conversion rule can apply to the whole term or can be defined for a specific conversion place or special currency and units. During the evaluation, the system looks for a conversion rule in the following order and takes the first one it finds:
- Read conversion for term with conversion place, units, and currencies
- Read conversion for term with conversion place, without units or currencies
- Read conversion for term without conversion place (0000) but with units and currencies
- Read conversion for term without conversion place (0000), units, or currencies
- Read conversion for formula with conversion place, units, and currencies
- Read conversion for formula with conversion place, but without units or currencies
- Read conversion for formula without conversion place (0000) but with units and currencies
- Read conversion for formula without conversion place (0000), units, or currencies

- Read rounding result for term group with conversion place
- Read rounding result for term group without conversion place (0000)
- Read rounding result for formula with conversion place
- Read rounding result for formula without conversion place (0000)
Requirements
Calculation types, term rules, and the CPE quotations must first be defined.
The following namespaces are valid for the routines:
0000000 - 0009999: General CPE routines from SAP
0010000 - 0019999: Industry-specific routines from SAP
0020000 - 0029999: Routines from SAP partners
0030000 - 0099999: Customer-specific routines
0100000 - 9999999: Not used yet
The following namespaces are valid for the rules:
00000 - 0ZZZZ: General CPE rules from SAP
10000 - 8ZZZZ: Industry-specific rules from SAP
90000 - 9ZZZZ: Rules from SAP partners
A0000 - ZZZZZ: Customer-specific rules
Standard settings
If no conversion or rounding rules are specified, the conversion uses the daily currency conversion with exchange rate type 'M', performs quantity conversion according to the material master data, and does not carry out rounding.
