In this activity, you can determine the message type for certain system messages in Products specifically for a user. You can specify whether the user should receive:
- An information message
- A warning message
- An error message
- No message
Not every setting should be used for each message. The following information is therefore specified in the system:
- For which messages can the type be changed
- Which types are allowed for a particular message
You can display a list of the messages that can be changed and their valid types using the possible entries pushbutton in the table Message Control by User.

Standard settings
The standard setting for the GTIN system message (COM_PRODUCT_CUSTMSG001) is a warning message.
Recommendation
Activities
To specify a different type of message to the standard setting for a specific user, enter the message, the user, and the type in the table.
To specify a different type of message to the standard setting for all users, enter the message and type in the table and leave the User name column blank.
