Use
The uniqueness of an alternative ID may depend on other environment data that does not belong directly to the alternative ID fields. For example, the customer material number, an ID type delivered by SAP, is generally the number used by a customer to identify a product, but not necessarily the same as the product ID. To search for a product using the customer material number, you will also require the name of the customer.
In this activity, you define additional context fields which can be used in the search methods of the alternative IDs when searching for products.
Applications such as the sales order, in which alternative ID search methods are used, have a BAdI which allows the values for the context data to be passed from the customer-defined ID types to the search methods.
