The Action Box enables an agent to execute available transactions quickly and efficiently via tabs, icons, and other methods. The Action Box can include up to eight tabs, with each tab grouping transactions of the same type, such as sales orders or service notifications, or related transactions. The icons and labels for these tabs can be customized.

Customizing of the Action Box component includes:

  • selection of transactions
  • specifying the way they are realized (for example, via a BOR method)
  • specifying the data flow from and to the Business Data Display component

From the initial Action Box Configuration screen, you can create, change, display, copy, rename, or delete an Action Box configuration.

To configure the Action Box:

  1. Enter a name in the Configuration name field.
  2. Select Create.
  3. In the Configuration Data dialog box, add a short description.

After you have chosen to create or change an Action Box configuration, you can use the following functions:

To add new groups (each group is displayed as a tab in the Action Box tabstrip screen):

  1. Determine the group sequence.
    1. Put the cursor on Action box Configuration to add the new group at the first position.
    2. Put the cursor on an existing group to add the new one after the current cursor position.
  2. Choose Group.
  3. In the Transaction Group dialog box, enter a group key and a short description for the tabstrip label.
  4. Specify an icon name for the tabstrip label.
  5. Choose Enter.

To add new business transactions:

  1. Determine transaction sequence.
    1. Put the cursor on Transaction group to add the new transaction at the first position.
    2. Put the cursor on an existing transaction to add the new one after the current cursor position.
  2. Choose Transaction.
  3. In the Transaction dialog box, enter a unique transaction ID code for later use as a short cut.
  4. For the Presentation section of the Transaction dialog box, do the following:
    1. Add a transaction description to be displayed in the Action Box.
    2. Add a transaction description for the menu in case the transaction is assigned to a function key.
    3. Choose an icon name.
  5. For the Transaction Definition section of the Transaction dialog box, do the following:
    1. If you want the transaction to be inactive and invisible in the Action Box, select Inactive.
    2. In the Proc. Type field, specify if the business transaction is a create or a touch (change/display) access.
    3. Depending on your implementation, select an option.
  6. For the Parameter Dialog section of the Transaction dialog box, select an option.
  7. For the Runtime Settings section of the Transaction dialog box, select one or more options.

The Data Flow screen includes:

Export data flow
Exports data from the Business Data Display to the transaction. It contains all parameters that are defined in the transaction interface derived from an underlying BOR method, a workflow, a CATT procedure, or an online BDC session.

Import data flow
Imports data from the transaction to the Business Data Display. All parameters that are defined in the transaction interface (derived from an underlying BOR method, a workflow, a CATT procedure, or an online BDC session) can be used as the data source for the transfer back to the Business Data Display.

To specify the data source:

  1. Put the cursor on a transaction and select Data flow.
  2. To specify the source for a parameter (target element), place the cursor in the Data source column and press F4.

The Expression Selection dialog shows a tree structure with different sources that can be expanded or compressed.

  1. Double-click the source element to select it.
