Use
This Customizing activity enables you to check which message category groups are available, and which message classes are assigned to a message category group.
Within a message category group, you can check which error category is assigned to a message.
You also have the option of creating your own message category groups, and of overriding error categories of messages.

Activities
If you have not assigned a message class to a message category group, or if you have assigned it to an unsuitable message category group, you can assign the message class to its own message category group. Note that this message category group must start with a Y or a Z. Otherwise, the system will interpret it as a modification.
Once you have found or created a suitable message category group, you can categorize the error messages within the message class assigned to this message category group. Note the following:
In the Owner field, select the entry Partner or Customer by using the Input Help. The entry Customer has a higher priority than the entry Partner.
Entries with the owner Customer or Partner generally override entries with the owner SAP AG.
- If you want to assign an error category to a specific message, enter the corresponding message number.
- If you want to assign an error category to all messages within a message class by default, enter the placeholder <*> as message number. Note that when using this placeholder as message number, the system overrides all entries supplied by SAP within a message category group.
- To change the error category assigned to an error message by SAP, perform the following steps:
- Copy the entry supplied by SAP, and change the owner to Partner or Customer.
- Enter the required error category.
- Save your changes.
