Use

In this Customizing activity, you can define search connectors for Business Context Viewer (CA-EPT-BCV). The following data provision technologies are available:

  • SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (BI)
  • Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI)
  • SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search (ES)
  • SAP NetWeaver Search Engine Service (SES)
  • Workflow (WF)
  • InfosSet (IS)
  • Web Service (WS)

Requirements

  • You have defined a meaning under Business Context Viewer -> Foundation, Monitoring -> Define Meanings.

You can als use one predefined by SAP.

  • For BI search Connectors, you have defined an info provider and a BI query name.
  • For BAPI search connectors, you have defined a corresponding class.
  • You have activated and indexed the ES search connectors in the Administration Cockpit of SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search in Customizing for SAP NetWeaver Search under -> Embedded Search -> Modelling, Administration, and Monitoring -> Open Administration Cockpit.
  • For InfoSet search connectors, you have defined infoset queries.
  • For Web Service search connectors, you have generated a proxy object in the Enterprise Service Repository in Customizing for Cross-Application Components under Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications -> Enterprise Services -> Develop Enterprise Services -> Generate and Implement Proxy Objects.

You have defined a logical port in the SOA Manager in Customizing for Cross-Application Components under Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications -> Enterprise Services -> Develop Enterprise Services -> Manage and Test Enterprise Services.

Standard settings

The standard system is delivered with a set of predefined search connectors (the ID of which begins with 1). You can use these search connectors directly or copy them to the customer name space (by using an ID beginning with A to Z) changing them as needed.

Activities

  1. Define a data provision technology.

Select one from the following data provision technologies:

    1. SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (BI)
    2. Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI)
    3. SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search (ES)
    4. SAP NetWeaver Search Engine Service (SES)
    5. Workflow (WF)
    6. InfosSet (IS)
    7. Web Service (WS)
  2. Define a data provider

Select a data provider according to chosen data provision technology:

    1. BI: InfoCube, BI Query, and Logical System
    2. You can specify a logical system. If you do not specify a logical system, you automatically work locally.
    3. BAPI: Class
    4. You can specify a logical system. If you do not specify a logical system, you automatically work locally.
    5. ES: Template, ES Search Connector, and Search Request
    6. SES: Business Object, Business Object Type, and Logical System
    7. WF:Object Type, Workflow Steps, Period Selection, Status Selection
    8. IS: Work Area, User Group, InfoSet Query
    9. WS: Class, Logical Port
  3. Define additional systems

If the data provision technology supports calls from another system (for example, by RFC-enabled function modules), you can specify one or several systems for these calls. Currently, only BI, BAPI and SES support calls from another system.

  4. Define input field details

The system automatically determines the input fields and displays them as a list of fields with as much detailed information as possible. You can define details that are not available, such as Meaning. You cannot enhance or reduce the list of fields.

  5. Define output field details

The system automatically determines the output fields and displays them as a list of fields with as much detailed information as possible. You can define details that are not available, such as Meaning, and Reference Field. You cannot enhance or reduce the list of fields.

For more information, see the field helps and SAP Library on SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com -> SAP ERP -> SAP Enhancement Packages -> SAP enhancement package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0 English -> SAP ERP Central Component -> Logistics -> Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) -> PLM Web User Interface -> Business Context Viewer (BCV) -> Search Integration -> Search Connector -> Definition of Search Connectors.
