Use
In this Customizing activity, you define snapshot parameters to save system resources by restricting the number of snapshots a user can have in Business Context Viewer (CA-EPT-BCV). Additionally, you can specify the number of days a snapshot should be stored in the system.
The settings you, as an administrator make in this Customizing activity, enable you to protect system resources by restricting the Maximum Number of Snapshots (per User), as well as the Maximum Life Span of Snapshot (in Days). You can specify the life span of the snapshots in calendar days. The system starts calculating the remaining days from the date that they are created on.
You can specify both values on the following three levels:
- Business Context Viewer (BCV)
- Context key
- Combination of context key and user
The system first checks for the most specific entry (combination of context key and user) and if it finds nothing, it goes on to check the next more generic entry.
Note that the system searches on the basis of the database key of these entries and not on their values. If it finds an entry and its values are initial (empty, or 0), or one of its entries is initial, it does not take this entry into consideration as a restriction. Therefore, it is not possible to restrict the life span on, for example, the level of the user, and the maximum number of snapshots on the level of the application (context key). They must always be defined on the same level.
As a result of the settings you make in this Customizing activity, the following restrictions occur:
- The user cannot define more snapshots than you specified in the Maximum Number of Snapshots (per User) field. When a user has reached this number, they get an error message, and are asked to delete a snapshot before being allowed to create a new one.
- The system deletes snapshots older than the number of days you specify in the Maximum Life Span of Snapshot (in Days).
