Use

In this Customizing activity, you can make settings for the query dispatcher. As the execution of a BCV query can be time consuming (depending on the data provision technology used) the system can execute several BCV queries in parallel in an asynchronous mode when you want to display several query views at the same time, for example, in the Overview tab of the side panel or in a dashboard.

Requirements

Standard settings

If you define no query dispatcher settings for the current context key, the system takes the settings of the initial context key. If you have not defined an initial context key, the system takes the following values:

  • Server Group: No server group is used
  • Expiry Duration: 10 seconds
  • Force Synchronous Query Processing: No

Activities

You can specify the following attributes:

  • Context Key

You can define query dispatcher settings individually for each context key. To reduce the maintenance effort, you can make the settings for an initial context key, so that the system can make them effective for all context keys where no individual settings are specified.

  • Server Group

Here you can define the server group that is used for asynchronous query processing.

  • Expiry Duration

To avoid long-running processes, for example, in case of an error within the data provision technology, you can define the length of time the system should wait for the result of a BCV query. After this duration has expired without the system returning a result, it marks the corresponding query view as "timed out".

  • Force Synchronous Query Processing

If many users start several dashboards containing many query views at the same time, this increases the number of processes if the system executes queries in an asynchronous mode. If the number of processes becomes to big, you can change the query execution to a synchronous execution mode.
