In this IMG activity, you allocate the regional structure groups to the regional structure areas by role. This means you merge certain areas (the regional structure groups) on the basis of business criteria to form larger entities, the regional structure areas. This has a number of advantages, For example, in plant determination you no longer have to allocate a maintenance planning plant to every regional structure group. Instead, you only have to allocate it once, to the regional structure area.

In the case of supply permit processing, the system uses regional structure group 001 (area liable to flooding, downtown) and role 20500068 to determine the correst regional structure area, 0001 (north and east). The regional structure area contains information on the permits required for reconnections.
