Use

In this IMG activity, you can define the Customizing tables for the data extraction. In doing so, you define the data sources (tables and fields) in the application system. The application system sends the relevant data to SAP Event Management (SAP EM). SAP EM extracts this data, and creates or updates event handlers.

You can use the following additional Customizing tables for the application object type data:

  • The parameters, for example, control or info parameters
  • The expected events

You can use the following additional Customizing tables for the event message data:

  • The event message header data
  • The remaining event message data

You define the table fields on the basis of the business process type.

Requirements

Standard settings

Activities

  1. In the navigation tree, choose Business Process Type. Select the business process type to which you want to assign extraction fields.

The system displays the business process types that you have already defined under Define Used Business Process Types, Application Object Types, and Event Types.

  2. In the navigation tree, choose Extraction Fields and create new extraction fields with descriptions.
  3. Select an extraction field and, in the navigation tree, choose Details.

You specify here which data is to be extracted to SAP EM.

    • If required, specify the Field Connector.
    • Specify the field type.
    • If required, specify the appropriate operator for the field type.
    • Specify the structure and the field that contain the required data in the application system. You can specify a constant.
    • Specify a structure and a field if you have specified the value Key for Further Table Access for the field type.
    • If required, choose Space Allowed or Delete Duplicates.
    • If the system can extract multiple entries for an extraction field, define which entries SAP EM is to consider, for example, only the entry in the first table.
  4. Assign the defined extraction fields either as expected events or parameters for the application object type data, or as event messages for the event type data.
    • In the navigation tree, choose Application Object Type. Select the application object type to which you want to assign an extraction field as an expected event or parameter.
    • - In the navigation tree, choose Parameters and specify the following:
      - A parameter name
      - A parameter type, for example, control parameter
      - An extraction field or a constant
      - An extraction index
      - In the navigation tree, choose Expected Events and specify the following:
      - A name for the expected event
      - An expected event field
      - An extraction field or a constant
      - If required, an offset in days
      - A factory calendar or a calendar field
    • In the navigation tree, choose Event Type. Select the event type to which you want to assign an extraction field as an event message.
    • - In the navigation tree, choose Event Message Data and specify the following:
      - An event message structure
      - A row number
      - A field name for the event message structure
      - An extraction field or a constant

If you want to use function modules instead of this generic data extraction method, define them under Define SAP EM Extraction Functions.
