Use

In this step you define the ordering of elements by sections or globally for a document. You can define either a different ordering algorithm for each section or a generic ordering for the entire document or some combination. You define a generic ordering for the document by entering an asterisk ('*' ) in the Section field. This enables a user to set up an ordering for a document that applies to all sections. If there is a section with a special ordering that is different than the overall ordering, you can specify it by creating the ordering for that entire section.

Requirements

Standard settings

Activities

To define an order:

  1. Choose Ordering in the dialog structure.
  2. Choose New Entries.
  3. Enter an identifier and a description.
  4. Save your entries.

To structure elements within an ordering:

  1. Choose Element Ordering in the dialog structure.
  2. Choose New Entries.
  3. Enter a section number or an asterisk (*) to represent an overall sorting, and the order in which it should appear.
  4. Specify the related regulation set and element type (standard clause, section header/footer, note, etc.).
  5. Set the Included by Reference indicator if required.
  6. Save your entries.
  7. Repeat the previously mentioned steps if required.

Example

A document may contain Sections A-Z. A different sorting algorithm for Section D can be supported. Note that it is acceptable that the importance of index numbers is within each section or grouping. In our previous example, it is acceptable that the overall sorting uses index number 1 - 19 while Section D uses 30 - 39.
