A pattern cannot be entered for a date

Diagnosis
You attempted to specify a pattern for a date. This is not allowed as the system calculates a time period based on a number of days (for example 30 days) and not based on a specific date (for example March 1999).
System Response
Function module terminates.
Procedure
Do not use * (option CP) in the date field for selection options. This error usually only occurs when the function module is used directly, and not in transaction SP01.
