Diagnosis

When upgrading to Release 4.5, the addresses from customer and vendor master records are among those converted to central address management. Analysis of the data volume in tables KNA1, LFA1, and SAIN means that a long runtime is to be expected for the conversion.

System Response

Since conversion must take place during system downtime, this can mean that the timeframe is increased considerably.

Procedure

We recommend that you schedule program RSXADR21, which carries out preliminary conversion of the address data, as a background job before the upgrade. This program converts most of the data before the upgrade.

This way the runtime for converting the address data during upgrade downtime is considerably reduced.

To ensure that all address changes to existing master records which are maintained between running program RSXADR21 and the upgrade are considered during downtime data conversion, you must carry out several small preparatory measures before scheduling the program.

For detailed information see OSS note 97032.

If you schedule program RSXADR21 without preparatory measures, it may be that not all changes are taken into consideration afterwards during data conversion.

Postprocessing would then be necessary after the upgrade.

Notes

The JOB_RSCNVADR phase of the upgrade preparations does not need to be repeated if the existing error message is issued.

The error message is issued irrespective of whether the recommended preparatory measures have been carried out. It is intended to remind the user of the measures described.
