BOM already exists for this material/plant/usage

Diagnosis
You want to create a variant of an existing BOM using the material you have entered (-> Variant BOM).
System Response
The system checks whether:
- Variant BOMs are supported (in Customizing, under Define modification parameters
- There is already a BOM for the material
You can only create a variant BOM for a material that does not yet have a BOM.
Procedure
Check your entries for the material, plant and usage.
See 1.
If maintenance of variant BOMs is set to inactive, contact your system administrator. The setting may need to be changed.
See 2.
If a BOM already exists for the material you entered in the plant and with the usage you entered, you can only create a variant for a different material.
